THE JOHN F. AND ANNA LEE STACEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR ART EDUCATION
http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_stac.html
SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The scholarship, known as "The John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Scholarship Fund," is open to United States citizens only, both men and women, single or married, irrespective of race, creed or color. The age limit is between 18 and 35 years. Appointments will normally be for one year, and the amount available for distribution will approximate $10,000. At the discretion of the committee, this may be awarded in quarterly installments to one or more applicants.
The committee reserves the right to disburse funds in whole or in part, as it deems advisable from careful study of the merits of the applicants as shown by their work and personal data. The decision of the Committee shall be final. Also, the Committee reserves the right to withhold appointments if, in its judgment, the work submitted fails to comply with the required standard or is inferior in quality.
The purpose of the Scholarship, in accordance with the clear stipulation of the Stacey's will, is to foster a high standard in the study of form, color, drawing, painting, design, and technique, as these are expressed in modes showing patent affinity with the classical tradition of western culture. ONLY THOSE SHOULD APPLY WHO ARE SKILLED AND DEVOTED TO THIS CLASSICAL OR CONSERVATIVE TRADITION.
In general, the recipient may use the funds granted him in any way he wishes to further his art education along conservative lines, but the committee reserves the right to make recommendations. Each successful competitor will be required to submit a brief quarterly report together with 35mm slides of his work and a more complete report at the termination of the scholarship. All possible care will be taken of entries, but the committee cannot be held responsible for loss or damage.
Strict scheduling is not possible with regard to judging work and announcing the awards. An interval of some weeks is usual.
The entrant submitting work in this competition thereby signifies his agreement to all terms and conditions stated in the prospectus.
As stipulated below, all applicants will be required to submit 35mm slides by February 1. On the basis of these slides, the committee will select a number of finalists who will be required to submit original work for a second and final competition. Announcement of the award(s) will be made as soon as possible.
Do not send slides or any materials before October 1, as the committee does not maintain storage facilities. Send slides and completed application blank by U.S. MAIL, not rail or air express.
The terms of the Stacey's will expressly limit the purview of our concerns to the fine arts of painting and drawing, hence work in related and practical fields (such as sculpture, collage, fashion design, decoration, etc.) is inadmissible except as supplementary to the required work.
Occasionally we are asked to clarify or amplify our definition of the term "conservative," for which it is manifestly difficult to achieve consensus on any particular statement. Yet the relative infrequency of these requests proves an indubitable widespread understanding of the term's intent. To "conservative" we have generally appended a reference to the term "classical" in order to indicate that the work and talent we are concerned with is that which has its roots in the mainstream of western art with its predisposition in favor of realism or naturalism, in contradistinction to those currently popular rejections of these concepts.
It is possible to spend much time and thought on the terms commonly employed in discussing this matter ~ realistic, naturalistic, conservative, photographic, illustration, trompe l'oeil, academic, etc. ad infinitum ~ without perhaps ever achieving anything very satisfactory. But at the bottom of all these approaches lies the idea of verisimilitude, and we believe that ultimately there is very little general disagreement about this.
While we are looking for the skills that underlie trompe l'oeil or "photographic" work, we wish such skills to be organized and oriented toward a presentation more aesthetically satisfying than stark photographic realism. We believe that the disciplines of painting are ineluctably grounded in humanity's very real agreement on "things as they are," even though that consensus may not extend to any ascertainable verbal formularization.
PROCEDURE
Fill out application form.
Submit 35mm slides of your best work in any of the following categories listed below. (Not more than 10 slides)
1. Painting from life
2. Drawing from the figure (nude)

5. Any other slides of your work which you think advisable
NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE SLIDES OF PAINTINGS REPRODUCE CORRECTLY THE TONE VALUES.

Enclose a letter outlining your ambitions and explaining your plans and objectives. Tell how and where you wish to study or work.

There are no rigid requirements on letters of reference, but we suggest at least four from a variety of sources.
FOR FINALISTS ONLY:
Subsequent to the initial judging, you will be notified where to ship your work, which MUST be sent UNFRAMED and PREPAID. It will be returned prepaid by the Stacey Fund, provided the total weight is not in excess of 100 pounds.
Personal data and 35mm slides of each winner will be kept for the permanent files of the Stacey Scholarship Fund. The committee will endeavor to gain useful publicity for its winners. Mail entries and all communications to:

Internal Revenue Service regulations require by law (code section 53.4945-4[c]) that non-profit organizations retain evidence that scholarship moneys are used for their given purpose. Therefore, as a matter of proper procedure, the National Sculpture Society requires proof that course work was completed successfully. COLLEGE ART ASSOCIATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP FOR ARTISTS
Professional Development Fellowships for Artists and Art Historians
http://www.collegeart.org/fellowships/
CAA initiated the Professional Development Fellowship Program in 1993 to help M.F.A., terminal M.A., and Ph.D. students bridge the gap between graduate study and professional careers. By offering our support at this critical juncture in scholars' and artists' careers, we hope to make timely degree completion more viable and employment opportunities more accessible. In turn, by nurturing outstanding scholars and artists at the beginning of their careers, we hope to strengthen and diversify the profession as a whole. Each fellow receives support over a period of two years.
Year One: Degree Completion
CAA grants $5,000 to each fellow for use during the final year of his/her MFA or Ph.D. program. CAA does not restrict the use of these funds, nor will CAA prohibit recipients from holding other scholarships, fellowships, or employment during the term of this grant.
Year Two: Professional Placement
CAA helps each fellow search for employment at a museum, art center, college, or university. Upon securing a position, CAA provides a $10,000 subsidy to the employer as part of the fellow's salary. Participating organizations must match this grant 2:1. In addition to administrative and/or teaching duties, all fellows' positions must include a curatorial or public service component. Salary or stipend, position description, and term of employment will vary and will be determined in consultation with individual fellows and their potential employees.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
CAA encourages applications from all art history doctoral students from socially and economically diverse backgrounds who:
