A very good professional practice is essential for artists, especially during this current time of economic uncertainty. This 5-day program is designed to provide the tools necessary to successfully navigate the art world marketplace. We will lay out strategies that will help the artist maximize both selling and showing opportunities.

Tools that will be covered include (but are not limited to):

  • guidance with galleries
  • understanding the world of public art
  • exploring many ways to research and organize
  • applying for grants
  • navigating application materials
  • general marketing strategies 
  • pursuing jobs in the arts
  • creating great presentation materials to present your work
  • the basics of writing a resume and solid artist statement
  • creating a list of goals that are able to evolve over time

This course is primarily about creative thinking outside of the box and taking different avenues to create opportunities and income without spending a fortune. The ultimate goal is to achieve professional independence, confidence and empowerment.

For this week-long intensive, each day we will cover various topics in a rigorous, “boot-camp” atmosphere – we will be covering a lot of information! In addition, at least one guest speaker will visit with us to give a different voice and point of view. Those speakers include a gallery dealer, museum curator, grant writer, critic and others who will be able to give you important insight and honest advice to further your practice.

This intensive course is a fantastic opportunity to participate in a high-energy environment where you and your peers will absorb tremendous amount of information. We will build a community while acquiring important professional habits that will enable you to step forward and further your career!
