“The Power of Perception”
Recent Paintings by Glen Kessler

Maryland artist Glen Kessler will present his latest series of master paintings at The Yellow Barn Gallery, January 4 through 6 and 12 through 13, 2008.  The Gallery is open from 12pm to 5pm daily.  A reception for the artist is scheduled for 6 to 8pm, Friday, January 4, in the gallery.

This event, which is hosted in cooperation with the National Park Service and the Glen Echo Partnership for Arts and Culture and titled “The Power of Perception,” showcases the artist’s reworked Old Master paintings.  In this work, historical paintings are distorted and altered to create new stories for our time.  The paintings are ironic, thought-provoking, cynical, humorous, and beautiful…all at once.

Kessler’s work is technically masterful, using Old Master techniques in his modern images.

Also, included in the show are copies of master paintings executed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.  The artist has worked as a copyist at the NGA for the past year.

This exhibition and the artist reception are open to the public.  For more information contact the Yellow Barn Gallery at 301-371-5593 or the National Park Service, Glen Echo, at 301-492-6229.
