Jon deMartin

Born: Wilmington Delaware, 1955

Jon deMartin received a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute. Studied primarily with Michael Aviano, the Art Students League under Gustav Rehberger and Nelson Shanks, and independently with Daniel Greene. In addition he trained in cast drawing with Millet Andrejevic and Edward Schmidt. Having studied at the Art Students League and The New York Academy, he has subsequently taught at both schools. His work has appeared in Art in America, Art News, Art & Antiques, and The Classicist. He has published an article on classical cast drawing for American Artist magazine. His most recent solo show was at The Classical Gallery in Alexandria Virginia, Of This Time, Of That Place. He participated in the New York Classicism Now show in 2000 at the Hirschl & Adler Gallery, New York and the Fall 2002 show Epic Still Lifes at the John Pence Gallery.
